The Sewer Pass NFTs for Dookey Dash, an endless runner game recently launched by Yuga Labs, have been in high demand. During the game’s debut week—during which time its players exchanged 9,601 of these tokens among themselves—the standard trading price (in ETH) was as follows:
Sewer Pass NFTs cost 1.89 ETH, or about $3,000—and the demand for them is seemingly undeniable.
The community can play Dookey Dash from January 18th until February 8th, at which point the game will be closed and scores from Sewer Passes will be frozen. The person with the most points during that time period wins a key, while all other participants receive one on February 15th when The Summoning begins.
The Dookey Dash game is only a first step toward Yuga Labs’s goal of creating an entire ecosystem for skill-based cryptoassets. The marketplace will include at least two more games, plus either a third one or the ability to mint your own dog breed onto its blockchain (which would require owning some other kind of NFT from there).
The Bored Ape ecosystem will supposedly be powered by its own native currency, called ApeCoin.
The Sewer Pass has been so successful that its price is now $3,000. Although some have called this “pay-to-win”, a business model made famous in the mobile gaming industry, this kind of premium product can create an incredible boost for small businesses’ bottom lines—as long as they’re able to deliver on their end by ensuring customers get what they expect at each level in order to keep repeat buyers coming back.
This current offering of Yuga Labs is one of the cheapest avenues into its ecosystem, and owning other Yuga Labs NFTs can provide a score boost that creates utility and demand.
Dookey Dash’s Sewer Pass NFTs have created a high demand for Yuga Labs.
Yuga Labs’ skill-based minting process will include another mini-game and, potentially, a merge with Bored Ape Kennel Club NFT.
It will be interesting to see how the Yuga Labs ecosystem evolves and whether it becomes more accessible to a wider audience.
