Mining is a crucial part of the Ethereum network. The process of verifying transactions on the blockchain, in a way that’s completely anonymous and secure, is only possible through a distributed network of computers. Those computers are “miners,” and they’re rewarded with ether — the cryptocurrency used on the Ethereum platform — for work done in validating transactions. For example, if your computer solves one block (thereby verifying a block of transactions) you will receive 5 ETH as your reward.
1. Sign up for a free miner at ethermine.org
The first step to mining ether is to sign up for a free miner at ethermine.org. This site allows you to use your CPU or GPU to mine Ethereum (ETH).
To get started, first sign up for your account on the website with your email address and password. You’ll be asked to provide a username, but if you don’t have one handy, do not worry! As long as it’s available, you can type anything in here; it does not matter what name you use.
Once this is done, go back over to the “My Account” page and click on “New Miner” at the top right-hand side of the screen:
2. choose the link to download the right version of Etherminer
3. Choose the right version for your operating system, then download and install it.
If you’re using a Mac, you’ll need to download a version of the software that’s compatible with your operating system. Once you’ve downloaded and installed the right version, make sure it isn’t a virus by running an antivirus scan on your computer.
You can also download Etherminer which is one of the most popular Ethereum miners out there. This is another program that will allow you to earn ETH without having to invest any money into buying or building fancy mining rigs yourself. Etherminer works on Windows, MacOS X and Linux machines and provides support for both GPUs (AMD) and CPUs (Intel).
4. Run the GUI miner ( Etherminer)
The last step is to run the GUI miner ( Etherminer). To do this, navigate to the directory where you have downloaded it and double-click on etherminer.exe. This will launch the application window; if your rig is not connected yet and you are using a local wallet, skip this step for now and come back to it after everything else has been configured correctly. In order to start mining, we need one more piece of information: our pool address as well as its port number (usually between 20XXX – 21XXX). There are plenty of pools available online that support Ethereum mining so we don’t recommend choosing one randomly but instead go through their reviews and choose one that has been around for a while with an active community behind it. Once you have decided on which pool to use enter its details into Etherminer under “Pool address” (e), “Password/Wallet Address”(p), “Rig Name/Worker name”(r) fields respectively, select the currency you want your earnings reported in under “reporting type” dropdown menu above these fields then click Start button at the bottom right corner of window to start mining!
You can mine Ethereum without having to pay for cloud mining services
Mining Ethereum is the process of verifying transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. This is done by solving complex mathematical problems, and you get rewarded with ether. To mine Ethereum yourself, however, you will need a computer with a dedicated graphics processing unit (GPU) or an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC).
You can also do this with your laptop or desktop PC’s CPU but that is not recommended because it uses up a lot of electricity and generates lots of heat. There are plenty of free online tutorials available such as [this one](https://www.cryptobizmagazine.com/2018/08/26/how-to-mine-ethereum/) if you want to try mining at home without spending any money at all!
With the help of Etherminer, you can mine Ethereum without having to pay for cloud mining services. It is user-friendly software that allows you to mine ether without the need for any technical know-how. The only downside is that it can only be used on Windows OS systems and requires at least 8GB of RAM in your computer system. If none of these points apply then there are other options available that could be better suited for your needs!
