Welcome to the OpenSea NFT Marketplace! Whether you are a seasoned crypto enthusiast or newbie trader, we want to make it easy for you to get started buying and selling NFTs with our platform. Here we’ve outlined some of the basics of our marketplace, including how to register and use Metamask, which browsers we support, and how to make your first purchase using one of these browsers.
Steps to buy an NFT on OpenSea.
To get started, you’ll need to sign up for an OpenSea account. First, visit https://opens.sea/ and click on the “Sign Up” button in the top right corner of your screen. You’ll then be prompted to enter your email address and password (or create a new account) before confirming your email address and signing in. Once you’re logged in, take note of where all of these pages are located as they may change depending on future updates by OpenSea or other companies that offer similar functionality (such as Rarebits).
Once you’ve confirmed your email address and created an account with OpenSea, it’s time to start buying NFTs!
First step is to sign up for OpenSea account.
The first step is to sign up for an OpenSea account. To do so, you will need to provide your email address and create a password. If you don’t already have a Google account, create one now.
Once you’re signed in with your Google account, go to https://nft.opensea.io/ and click the button that says “Register”. You’ll be prompted to enter your email address and create a password for your OpenSea account. The email address must match what you entered for your Google account or else it won’t work! Make sure this is secure because once you enter it, there’s no way to change it later on (unless someone else changes it).
Once you confirm your email address, you will be able to access the OpenSea marketplace.
Once you confirm your email address, you will be directed to the homepage of the OpenSea marketplace. On this page, you can view categories of NFT collections that are currently available and browse through some items. If there is an item that interests you, click on any of its thumbnails to open up respective item page.

If you are interested in buying a certain item, click on ‘Buy Now’ from the top right corner of your screen.
If you are interested in buying a certain item, click on ‘Buy Now’ from the top right corner of your screen. You will then be redirected to the Metamask website where you can complete the purchase. If you already have Metamask installed on your browser, simply click on ‘Buy Now’.
If not, download it here: https://metamask.io/. Once installed, go back to OpenSea website and proceed with purchasing the NFT.
You will notice a small pop up on the bottom left corner of the screen asking if it’s your first time using Metamask browser extension.
Metamask is a browser extension that allows you to interact with the ethereum blockchain. It is free to download and compatible with Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers. If you see this pop-up when you visit your NFT purchase page, it means Metamask has been installed correctly on your browser.
- Clicking ‘YES’ will redirect you to Metamask website where you can download and install their extension on your browser.
- Download the extension from here: https://metamask.io/
- The extension will be downloaded as a file (for example, “Metamask-vX.X-beta.zip”). Open this file, and run it by clicking on an icon that appears while opening the zip file (this is called an installer)
- You will see a pop up asking you to accept terms and conditions before installing the extension on your browser
Depending upon which browser and which operating system you are using, Metamask extension may or may not be compatible with OpenSea. If you are using Google Chrome, the extension is compatible with OpenSea. If you are using Safari, the extension is not compatible with OpenSea. If you are using Firefox, the extension is not compatible with OpenSea. Google Chrome versions 78 and 79 works fine with OpenSea and Metamask, while Safari browser is totally incompatible with both of them at this point in time.
If all goes well, you should now be able to see that your ETH wallet address has been added to the Metamask extension and it’s ready to use with OpenSea. Once you click on ‘Buy Now’ button, it will automatically fill out the required details such as the quantity of tokens you want to purchase and place an order with some fees payable in ETH. After clicking on ‘Place Order’ button, your order will be placed on OpenSea marketplace and you will get notification emails about it from both seller as well as OpenSea itself.
