Taking the art world by storm, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are making it possible to own digital art. This new form of virtual collectible can be traded and sold as an investment vehicle. NFTs are also increasingly used by creators as a means to monetize their work. Mr. Doodle is one such artist who has already embraced this new medium.
Mr. Doodle
Mr. Doodle is a virtual artist. Sam Cox, who professionally uses the name Mr. Doodle, is a 23-year old Britain born and based artist whose work has been showcased around the world.
His childhood scribbles over everything led him to study illustration at the University of the West of England in Bristol. His doodle-centric identity was born while on campus after he was dubbed Mr. Doodle by his professor.
His artistic style includes simple shapes such as dots, squiggles, and smiley faces. He has described his cartoonish fictional artwork as “Obsessive-Compulsive Drawing” and his own artworks are often referred to as “Graffiti Spaghetti”.
His artwork has featured in:
- Ara Art Center (2018)
- New York Gallery
- Blue-Chip Art-Fair Booth
- Western Museum Program
- Urban Break Art Asia
Besides, he has worked with Puma, Cass Art, and Adidas—and painted a mural in Wembley Park.
His “Spring” NFT painting, which sold for almost $1 million on Nifty Gateway, made him a multimillionaire.
ESC by Mr Doodle
Mr. Doodle’s work, “ESC” NFT, was released on Nifty Gateway on July 1st, 2021. His debut NFT collection.
Mr. Doodle chose the title ESC from the keyboard as he felt that digital technology could be an escape from reality. He likes the way that doodles of different characters on a page can create new scenes. Each layer contributes to the finished product, but all put together, they form a sense of fulfillment.
Mr. Doodle’s vision of the world takes shape in his artwork, where he produces dense clusters of characters, objects, and patterns that grow exponentially.
Mr. Doodle is set to release four more collections in the series on the Nifty Gateway Marketplace—with titles like CTRL, ALT, DELETE, and SHIFT at a later date.
The Living Doodle NFT
Mr. Doodle launches his first-ever NFT stop-motion artwork. The non-fungible token expresses the mood of Mr. Doodle’s latest “The Living Doodle” work most fully—thanks to its playful interactions with characters from his previous art, as well as an instantly recognizable style, called Graffiti Spaghetti.
The Living Doodle, an NFT artwork that is also available on canvas, was auctioned on September 27, 2021. The first person to purchase the artwork on Superrare will be the owner of both versions—the digital version stored in a smart contract and its physical counterpart displayed in their home or place of business, according to the creator.
